Watch the First Trailer for ‘Wonder Woman’

By Stephanie Brandhuber

It’s almost too good to be true. The first trailer for Warner Bros’ live-action Wonder Woman has been released and it looks fantastic.

After years of teasing and false-starts, the Wonder Woman film is finally going to grace us next summer. The new trailer was met with uproarious excitement at San Diego’s Comic-Con, and for good reason. After 75 years of Wonder Woman being absent from the big screen, this year’s Batman v Superman gave us a taste of this iconic heroine’s badass-ness, and we’ve all been eagerly anticipating a solo-movie dedicated to this fierce and feisty superhero since. It’s safe to say expectations are incredibly high, but if going by this first trailer alone, it doesn’t look like it’ll disappoint as Gal Godot once more picks up her shield and lasso to fight off the world’s evils.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman already looks like it will be markedly different in tone and feel to Zack Snyder’s dark, gloomy Batman v Superman. The trailer opens with a beautiful beach scene where we see Diana (Gal Godot) crouching over pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) who has clearly been washed ashore after an accident. This is the first man the princess of the Amazons has ever seen or met and thanks to him, she is convinced she can help mankind against the evils that face them. Diana enters into the tense scenes of WWI, and this is where the trailer looks and feels like a breath of fresh air in terms of originality and innovation. The action sequences focus on Wonder Woman doing what she does best, that is, kicking-butt, and the trailer gives an exciting look at the incredible visuals that the film will be offering.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Godot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, and Robin Wright. It opens June 2, 2017.
