WarGames Remake moving ahead
Though the director’s chair hasn’t been filled yet, with MGM in talks currently with Dean Israelite, the remake of the 1980’s cult film WarGames is on the move, with screenwriter Arash Amel set to rewrite the script originally taken on by Noah Oppenheim and Zak Penn. Reportedly, Ansel Elgort and Tye Sheridan are the front runners for the leading role originated by Matthew Broadrick. The film will again revolve around a young teenage hacker who discovers a sensitive computer program.

Shane Black attached to Predator reboot [UPDATED]
It seems as though a lot of classics are getting the reboot treatment, as 20th Century Fox are now charging full steam ahead with a reboot of the classic sci-fi franchise Predator. Though plot and story details are unknown at this early stage, Fox has announced that Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3) has been attached to direct the first film as well as writing the treatment, which will then be passed on to his frequent collaborator Fred Dekker. More details will be forthcoming as the project gets moving, but with Black’s attention to character detail and recent big budget prowess, Predator could be an exciting prospect. [UPDATE: Black’s film will be a sequel to the already established franchise, not a reboot!]

Star Wars Episode VII Villain Rumor
There have been a lot of rumors it seems focused on figuring out who the ultimate villains will be in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII, and Latino-Review (known for Marvel and DC news breaking) has again lent their predicting powers towards the Mandalorians and Jedi Hunters. Even with the Mandalorian armor being spotted in the background on set, nothing has been confirmed through either official channels nor from completely reliable sources substantiating any involvement from the elusive people.
Though TheForce.net has debunked the rumor that the Jedi Hunters will be the same in Episode VII in Rebels, the term has become a buzzword and continues to come up with every villain rumor begun online. The idea of a group of possibly Force strong people banding together to bring down the Jedi (possibly growing in numbers thanks to Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy) is actually a really good premise, but with so many rumors beginning then being ignored or completely debunked, it’s difficult to know what to think. However, for us at The Scruffy Nerf Herder, the strongest one of the bunch is that Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong’O are the villains, though their exact nature hasn’t been clarified yet.
